Circles Moderator

About the role

Are you passionate about driving impactful discussions and fostering collaboration between donors, NGOs, and philanthropists? Do you have the skill to develop actionable strategies for funding and relationship building?

Giving Circles MENA is seeking dynamic and experienced moderator(s) to help drive impactful discussions and help enrich dialogues between participants. By providing approaches, methods, and ideas, the moderator will ensure that circles are productive, inclusive, and results-oriented, fostering an environment where collaboration and effective teamwork are prioritized. Additionally, the moderator should be able to develop detailed agendas, session objectives, and review relevant documents, including websites, projects, success stories, and annual reports issued by circle’s users, to ensure advanced preparation, documentation and effective partnership facilitation of all sessions.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively engage with circle members and users to build informed, trust-based relationships.
  • Understand and appreciate the value of their services and unique capabilities they bring.
  • Moderate all sessions ensuring a balance between reviewing local context, establishing horizon/vision and beginning to establish pathways/roadmap.
  • Employ a variety of facilitation techniques to engage all participants, encourage open dialogue, and foster a collaborative environment.
  • Guide discussions, identifying challenges, and developing solutions.
  • Facilitate sessions aimed at defining and agreeing on productive ways for the team to work together, including setting expectations for communication and decision-making
  • Address any conflicts or issues that arise during the meeting in a constructive manner, helping the team to navigate and resolve these challenges productively.
  • Manage time effectively, ensuring that all agenda items are covered and that the meeting stays on track.
  • Provide a comprehensive report summarizing the key discussions, decisions, and action points from the meeting, including recommendations, as well as offer recommendations for follow-up actions.
  • Design scope of works, terms of reference and develop results framework.

Candidate Qualification & Experience

  • Holds a bachelor’s degree in social sciences or development fields, such as international development, sociology, political science, etc.
  • Proven experience of at least 1-3 years as a moderator, particularly in development or humanitarian project / initiative design sessions
  • Strong understanding of non-profit organizational dynamics, strategic planning processes, results-based project design, proposal writing, project design and team development.
  • Excellent communication and moderation skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups and manage group dynamics effectively.
  • Fluency in English is required.

  • The candidate must be interested and able to synthesize abstract concepts with practical issues to suggest approaches that help solve issues effectively.
  • The candidate must hold good and active listening.
  • Candidate must be agile and fully committed to address any concerns and/or unexpected work throughout the day to maintain smooth and efficient sessions.
  • Candidate must be proactive and reactive with members and participants and be keen to continuously build relationships with clients.
