Local Voices, Local Solutions: Tackling Reintegration Challenges for Syrian Returnees From Europe

Overview

Giving Circles MENA, in collaboration with the StartHope@Home program by Social Impact (Germany), invites local nonprofit organizations and development practitioners engaged in migration and reintegration efforts to join an interactive online event exploring the challenges faced by Arab asylum seekers returning from Europe. This event creates a space for critical dialogue around gaps, innovations, and opportunities to strengthen returnee support systems. We believe your voice matters in shaping more inclusive and responsive reintegration pathways.

Event Description

Join us for a 90-minute online Giving Circle dedicated to exploring the realities of return and reintegration in Syria. Together, we will discuss the challenges returnees face, highlight local solutions for reintegration, and identify opportunities to create meaningful, lasting impact for both the returnee and the broader economy.

In this session, co-hosted with StartHope@Home—a program that coaches refugees and migrants to prepare business plans or find jobs upon return—we’ll take a closer look at the pathways for Syrian returnees.

What to Expect:

  • A collaborative space to connect with other stakeholders and amplify local voices
  • Build connections and identify opportunities for collaboration that lead to sustainable reintegration.
  • Share knowledge and discover local actors, projects, and resources that can support returnees.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Insights on realities of return and reintegration from local and international perspectives – socially, economically, legally and psychologically.
  • Co-created locally centered solutions highlighting opportunities in jobs, business, and community development
