Giving Circles -MENA is a member-led, social impact platform where philanthropists and vetted local nonprofit organizations, who are closest to the issues and who know where and how to find the most vulnerable quickly, come together to make change. Our main aim is to pool funds, time and knowledge from all participants to transfer locally led ideas to reality.

About the role

Giving Circles MENA is seeking a dynamic business development officer to help engage, position and increase and sustain its partners and membership base. This role involves effective communication of the Giving Circles’ value across our diverse audience base, by engaging with targeted partners and members, promoting membership and partnership benefits as well as maintaining active communication with the mass of development funding and implementing practitioners alike. Responsibilities

  1. Membership Management (40% of total effort)
    • Research potential members, including donors, grant-making organizations, philanthropic organizations, international organizations, corporate funders among others.
    • Develop a trackable potential members list and provide recommendations on the best approach.
    • Proactively and consistently connect with potential members and partners through arranging meetings, follow-up calls/emails, and personalized communication.
  2. Communication Activities (30% of total effort)
    • Actively engage with members and with the extended audience of development funding and implementing practitioners by utilizing various channels such as social media (1-2 posts a week / channel), email marketing, and content marketing to promote circles’ activities and results.
    • Position Giving Circles MENA as a competent platform in designing locally led impactful and sustainable development initiatives and projects across the MENA region.
    • Building strong networks and collaborations.
  1. Events Management and Research (30% of total effort)
    • Act as circles’ co-moderators and co-facilitators.
    • Administer and coordinate events.
    • Maintain participants’ interests through sharing updates, knowledge, resources, infographics, articles, media news, the development and sharing of concise events’ summaries among others momentum-building and knowledge sharing activities.

Skills and Education

  • Holds a bachelor’s degree in social sciences including political science, political economy, economics, sociology, public policy, business development, mass communications and journalism.
  • 1-3 years of experience in international development / development cooperation field.
  • Experience working with local NGOs, international development organizations, grants making and philanthropic organizations among others.
    You should have excellent communication skills as well as moderation and facilitation skills.
  • Fundraising and proposal writing skills are an advantage.
  • Time management and ability to prioritize and work with multiple tasks
  • Excellent English language skills

Other information

  • Duration: The job is for a one-year duration, extendable.
  • Work Schedule: This is a full-time position currently administered in a hybrid fashion.
  • Salary: 18K EGP. Salary commensurate with experience and skills.
  • Bonus: Merit-based bonus will be provided based on the achievement and performance towards pre-defined KPIs.
